Obsidian’s Insurance Holdings is a U.S. based insurance holding company that through our U.S. insurance carrier subsidiaries is focused on facilitating and supporting specialty insurance programs underwritten by Managing General Agents, Managing General Underwriters, and program managers. Formed in 2020 in partnership with Genstar Capital, Obsidian’s two admitted carriers and surplus lines carrier are rated “A-” excellent by A. M. Best and support a diverse portfolio of property, casualty, and specialty insurance programs. Each program is supported by an individualized panel of reinsurers that are economically aligned with Obsidian and our MGA partners.

Reinsurance Capital

Our core focus is on building long term partnerships with our reinsurance and MGA partners for each Obsidian program. We work closely with our reinsurers and reinsurance brokers to structure bespoke support for each of our program partners. We stand aligned with our reinsurance partners via our Quota Share retentions and diligent management approach. Once a program is launched, we commit the resources required to make certain that the ongoing needs of all parties are addressed, and that growth and profitability goals are met or exceeded.
